Structured Light Control and Diagnostics Using Optical Crystals

We describe experimental results exposing the possibilities of optical crystals, especially anisotropic and birefringent, for creation, control, diagnostics structured light fields with singular extraordinary properties. The efficiency birefringent media is demonstrated purposeful generation beams phase singularities (optical vortices) desirable patterns internal energy flows, in both mono- polychromatic light. On other hand, micro-objects can be used as probing bodies investigation peculiar features flows corresponding momentum angular distributions fields. In particular, specific mechanical action fields, formed under total-reflection conditions, has been detected that confirms existence “extraordinary” dynamical characteristics evanescent waves predicted theoretically: “transverse” “vertical” spin their dependence on incident beam polarization. useful trapping micromanipulation techniques, including biomedical pharmaceutical applications.
